Theology of the Homestead
After the greatest calling ever given to a human in all of history, the angel departed from Mary and she likely went back to sweeping the floor, going to the market, and making dinner. While some are called to drop their nets and take on an entirely new way of life, most of us are called to follow God in daily living that, from the outside, probably doesn't look all that different.  Â
However, God is present in the daily ordinary moments of our lives. While "mountain top" experiences and grand signs are not outside of God's capabilities, it is not the way He typically communicates to his people through the ordinary means.Â
From ruminating and letting the cream rise to the top, to what pruning really means and how we don't know more than the gardener, to God the Divine Physician who holds the Salve to our wounds, we accept God's invitation to explore his creative nature through our gardens, flocks, and herds. Examples from our animals, homemaking, gardens, and family life will shed light on Sacred Scripture and how we can move forward oriented to the will of God for our lives.
